On one of those gloomy days winter Southern GP30 2543 struggles to lead eastbound 123 up a grade at Veechdale Ky. Built in October 1962 the 2563 was retired from the roster in February 1990.

The clock was running out of time for Southern GP30's by 1989 as the 2543 lead 123 east out of Louisville.
